Causes Of Brain Aneurysm
Written by Henry Johnson
Weak spots are formed at the junction where the arteries meet each other. Aneurysm is caused due to the outpouchings of the blood vessels. This caused due to the filling up of the weak spots with blood. This involves spilling of blood to the other tissues. Aneurysm caused due to the microscopic damage to the artery and sometimes due to the unusual flow of the blood. There are less causes of aneurysm. Mycotic aneurysms are caused due to the infection occurring to the artery wall. Addiction of drugs results in inflaming and weakening of the artery wall. Brain aneurysm is commonly occurred. More than 1% people in the world have asymptomatic aneurysms. This exerts pressure on the surrounding tissues of the brain. Facial symptom such as headache, numbness and change in vision is occurred. The brain cells receive the oxygen through the arteries and the arteries play an essential role. All brain cells receive glucose and oxygen through these arteries.

More symptoms of brain aneurysm

Headache is one of the severe brain tumor symptoms and symptom of the brain aneurysm. Vomiting takes place with the headache which is the symptom occurring in most of the people facing this problem. This is worst headache which person faces in his life. People suffer from neck pain due to the brain aneurysm. There is a change in the vision of the patient, visibility level decreases and may see double. Eyes start paining and there is also pain in the region surrounding the eyes. Eyes become sensitive of light means it can’t bear the direct contact of the light. Most of sensations are loss due this brain aneurysm.

The patient faces peripheral vision deficits. Thinking and processing problems increases and the speech gets more complicated. Problems start occurring as there is a sudden change in the behavior. Lots of perceptual problem are caused at such conditions. There is a great loss of balance and coordination. The person is not able to concentrate due to the fatigue. Most of the people face short time memory loss due to the brain aneurysm. The neck pain and the head ache are not necessarily the symptoms of the brain aneurysm. The immediate medical aid is recommended in order to avoid any major diseases.

Diagnosis of brain aneurysms

CT scan is done for detecting brain aneurysm. CT scan is a computerized test which gives the x-ray report of the total body in a quick process. Most of the time the CT scanning is negative but there is a suspects of ruptured aneurysm. A lumbar puncture is to be done for detecting the cerebrospinal fluid. Brain and the spinal chord are surrounded by this cerebrospinal fluid. All verification of the size and shape of the aneurysm are performed using of cerebral angiography or the use of the tomographic angiography.

In cerebral angiography small plastic tubes are introduced in the artery most of the time in the legs. A contract agent is injected to the person’s artery. Distribution of this contract agent is seen with the help of x-ray projection. There some overlapping figures of the spasm. Tomographic angiography is the process in which don’t involve the requirement of the arterial catheterization. In this process the contrast dye is injected into the vein. This contrast dye travels from all arteries in the brain. Images of the flow are gained through the process of CT scan.

Treatment of brain aneurysm

Brain aneurysm can be cured by carrying a surgery or the techniques of minimally- invasive endovascular coiling. Patients have to follow certain consultants to determine what kind of treatment to follow. There are two treatments for the brain aneurysm which are surgical treatment and minimal- invasive treatment. In the surgical treatment, the section of the patient’s skull is removed by the surgeons. Surgeons stop the flow of blood by clipping the arteries. After clipping the wound don’t receive any blood and is closed. The minimal-endovascular doesn’t involve any open surgery. X-ray techniques are used by the surgeons is known as fluoroscopic imaging. This treats the disease from the internal part of the blood vessel. This activity involves insertion of small plastic tube called as catheter. Very thin platinum coil is threaded in these plastic tubes to the aneurysm. Ruptures are prevented by blocking the flow of the blood. Coils used are of platinum because of the visibility of the platinum in the x-ray. These platinum coils are flexible to get adjusted with the shape of the aneurysm.

Comparison of the treatment

The treatment used largely for the curing of the aneurysm is the surgical treatment. Endovascular process is rarely used in curing as compared to the surgical process. New symptoms are reported after the surgical treatment. Disability is noticed after the coiling treatment. There lots of difference in the recovery time of the treatments. More advance methods are used in treating brain aneurysm successfully.
