  • Make and keep a journal like Lewis and Clark did. Write about your own Lewis and Clark discoveries. Find out about the Indian Tribes who lived along the Pacific Coast. Draw pictures or sketches of native plants and animals that you have seen.

  • Read at least two books about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A list of recommended books is included with this journal kit. Record the titles and authors in your journal. Write two or three sentences telling something that you learned from the books.

  • Visit at least three Lewis and Clark sites. Record these in your journal and tell what happened at each site that relates to the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery.

  • Collect some 'nature finds' that Lewis and Clark might have seen. For example sand dollars, seashells. Gull feathers, cones, and leaves. Take charcoal rubbings and leave your finds for someone else to discover. Learn about how the Chinooks and Clatsop-Nehalem tribes used these resources.

  • Watch the newspapers for articles about Lewis and Clark. Glue them into our journal or keep a separate album for the articles.

  • Tell friends, family, neighbors, and visitors about Lewis and Clark! Show them your journal.
